New Hotel Collection President and CEO Tommy Del Zoppo has received calls to sell his prime property in downtown St. Petersburg ever since vertical construction began at the Cordova Inn last year.
He has rejected every one of them. After decades on Wall Street looking for short-term gains, Del Zoppo views this hotel expansion project as a long-term passion project and a reflection of his love for St. Pete.
“I didn’t get into this to flip it,” he said.
It also doesn’t hurt that Cordova Inn, built in 1921, offers the highest margins of New Hotel Collection’s four properties, according to Del Zoppo.
